Barefoot Running Log – I Wear My Sunglasses
I slept in today and woke up just in time to get dressed and make it in time. The clouds were looming and there was no hint of a ray of light so I didn’t bring my sunglasses. Our group was a bit smaller today perhaps they were worried it was going to rain. Those runners made of sugar are always afraid of melting. Our regular awesome leader was away today due to family issues … Read entire article »

Barefoot Running Log – And on the 7th Day
I think the way it is suppose to go is you rest on the 7th day. On my 7th day of the Master Cleanse I ran 7k! I had 8 hours of sleep, woke up a bit groggy, had some mix and slapped on my Vibram’s ready to fly out the door. I didn’t even realize it was raining out until I pulled out the drive way. Attendance was a bit lower today due to the … Read entire article »

Barefoot Running Log – Kick It
The back of my heal hurt this morning when I woke up but about noon I didn’t have any pain at all. I was eager to run when I strapped on my Vibram’s and raced to the Running Room. I decided to stick with the new Half Marathon group which was going 3k. I started off at a good pace and picked it up several times. Again like last week I kicked it and pushed … Read entire article »

Barefoot Running Log – While on Master Cleanse
This week I am on day 2 of the Master Cleanse and so I am determined to not let it stop me from running. I also decided that I want to run in my Vibram’s again. With my message therapist Christine there to fix my problems I feel confident again to wear them as long as I stay in the 5k range. These will help with building up calf muscles to be stronger. Tonight I tried … Read entire article »

Running Log – Up Up and Away
Today it was so hot. It was like putting on a warm blanket and running with it. Regardless of the heat I had a great run. I am working this time around on my Sunday runs to keep my training pace at 7:30 to 8:00 km’s per minute. I have been told that if you train at a slower pace you won’t be over training and you train your slow twitch muscles to work better. … Read entire article »

Running Log – Sprint to the End
When I started with running my first time out with my group we did a 3k run. It was quickly done and we sprinted the last 100m to the end. Man I felt alive and couldn’t wait until the next time. Tonight a new group went out and a friend was in it. I have seen him at almost every marathon I have done this year and he’s usually right in front of me. Tonight I … Read entire article »

Running Log – Zoom Zoom Zoom
I strapped on my compression socks tonight and hopped on my bike and raced to the Running Room. I figured a nice bike ride before and after would be a good warm up and cool down. The run was good and I felt great. I managed to do the full time with 10′s and 1′s and felt strong. I am getting back into the swing of it and looking forward to getting faster and faster … Read entire article »

Running Log – Sodium Maximum
A good friend (Twila) was telling me on a great run that she didn’t have cramps or dehydration issues after using sodium pills. I of course commented about it on Facebook and another good friend (Stan) provided me with a few to test. They are gel cap sodium pills. I popped 2 of them an hour before the run with a big glass of water. Through out the run I didn’t get a cramp, pain … Read entire article »

Running Log – I’m Back!
2 weeks of running strong without pain and I feel like I am back from my injury. I manage to run today 10′s and 1′s and my cardio was a lot slower then I want but I made it through it. Now I just want to continue working on my speed at the 5k distance to see if I can get it down to 6 minute km’s. I am not really worried about the distance … Read entire article »

Running Log – MonaVie Gel Packs
I wanted to test the effectiveness of the MonaVie Gel packs while running so I took 2 from Chis Evenson a friend who provided them to me as a sample. I took one 15 minutes prior to the run and one half way through. The packs I find made me more thirst and craving water. Energy wise it did not give much of a boost you can see the results below. Day 1 is with … Read entire article »
