Running Log – Dirby Reach
Because our km’s are increasing instead of doing road running we thought it would be nice to go out to Dirby Reach and do the Fort to Fort trail. I did this trail with my wife on Bike in the summer time and it is a great wooded trail with a nice scenic route. As we weaved through the wooded forest the fog on the river rolled along at the same pace as our group. Squirrels and birds were darting across the trail and lots of various running people were also along the trail. If you have never done Dirby Reach trail I do recommend you try it.
Today we did 14k with 10′s and 1′s. I felt good for the first 10k and then I got a bit tired. I forgot my Clif Shot Bloks which I normally use on these long runs to repleanish my energy. I did take a bottle of water with me and another runner slipped me a few of her jelly beans (thanks Heather!). I have to remember to have something with me when we do these long runs as it will as you can see effect my average speed. I also had my phone die 2/3 of the way so if you view the route below you will see it is really messed up. It sucked not having music for the last part of the run and I think it effected my pace as well.
Does listening to music effect your pace?
