Running Log – Follow the Leader

runninglog

I showed up today expecting to run 6k with my group and as the time got closer and closer to the time to go I realized that no one else showed up. The manager of the Langley Running Room (Twila) said she needed a leader for another group and asked if I would lead it. I accepted the challenge and familiarized myself with the route that was given to me. We had to do a relatively difficult 9k distance, the route we had included going up pain hill.

This is my last week of my 1/2 marathon clinic which was preparing me for the Green Thumb Half Marathon. I do not have that race until March 13th but this week my group only does a 10k on Tuesday and a 6k on Wednesday. I think I will be joining a 1/2 marathon group already in progress and keep training for a half until later in the year when I will join the Marathon Group. In March I would have completed my goal of doing 2 half marathons this year and will only have one more goal of reaching a marathon. I have been considering doing the Royal Victorian Marathon as I have heard it is a great course and most people get their PB on it.

What Marathon did you do for your first?
