Running Log – The Historic Half

runninglog

Today I completed my first ever Half Marathon Race. It was neat to line up with 1000′s of people and pad off into the cold morning sun. The trees still had frost on them and there was a strange fowl smell in the air. I felt good and was looking forward to a great race. I saw lots of my fellow runners from the Langley Running Room. For this race I tried nothing new that I had not already tried on previous runs so no experiments today. I stuck to my 10′s and 1′s, I ran my own race and pace and had a great time doing it.

The course it self was challenging but not so difficult that you felt you had to give up anywhere. I was really proud of my Brother-in-law Mikey who ran today and broke the 2 hour mark. I believe that if he were to put his mind to it he could qualify for Boston Marathon in less then a year. Me on the other hand with 3 months of training under my belt I hit somewhere in the 2:17 mark. Not bad and better then I had thought I was going to do. It’s interesting how much faster you run with the adrenalin on race day.

Did you run the Historic Half? How did you do?
