Running Log – I lost my ass at the Historic Half

runninglog

Some jerk decided we should run a trial of the Historic Half prior to the race. Oh wait that jerk was me! Anyways I went to the site to find the route so I could print it out and ugh there was none! So I tried to make my own. I thought I would impress my group by being prepared. I guess making route sheets is not my specialty at 6 AM in the morning. I put a turn left on 93 when that street did not exist. Looking now again on the map the street is still showing 93 so although I was right in the real world it something else.

Anyways because of this mix up we ended up running 25 km’s instead! So now I know that I can run a half marathon and only another 17 km’s to doing a full marathon. Wow I just have to stop for a second and say I am really impressed that I can go that far already. I only started training for a half marathon in November and here it is February and I am already doing it. I feel great, my legs are a bit tender but nothing a few hours of sitting on the couch won’t solve.

The reference to ‘ass’ in this post is that we were running by a wild animal sanctuary and one the runners said “look wild animals!” I peered over while running and all I could see was 8 or so donkeys in the field. I laughed awhile and kept looking for “Shrek!” Got to love those wild asses.

Have you run the Historic Half? If so do you have any tips?
