Running Log – Resolution Run Rehersal

runninglog

Today they had the Resolution Run route posted so I asked our instructor if we could do a trial run of it so we can see what it is going to be like prior to doing it on Friday. The route tonight is different then our normal 5k run which has a lot of long lights and is flat. I found the route to be challenging because it is a lot of uphill. I also ended up having a stitch about half way so I had to slow down my pace regardless my pace was still pretty good.

Under the Christmas Tree I found that Santa had left me a Garmin Forerunner 305. This means over the next few weeks I will be comparing the results of the RunKeeper Pro version and the Garmin. The Garmin does not have a website to upload the route to so I have opted to use Everytrail for now.

Where do you upload your Garmin routes to?

Garmin

View the route and full details.

Heart Rate: 102
Distance: 4.75k
Time: 30:51 minutes
Average Speed: 6:29 min/km
Calories Burned: 589
Weather: Cold and Dry.

RunKeeper Pro

View the route and full details.

Heart Rate: 102
Distance: 4.34k
Time: 32:39 minutes
Average Speed: 7:31 min/km
Calories Burned: 589
Weather: Cold and Dry.

You will see that my pace with the Garmin is significantly lower then my previous runs. This run I did a 6:29 min per km pace. The reason it is lower is because my Garmin does auto pause when I am standing still. So when I am standing waiting for a light to change so I can continue to run it pauses. This gives you a more accurate pace and run time. I will do a future blog on which I prefer and why in regards to the Garmin and RunKeeper Pro.
