Trader Joe’s Review

img_0217img_0218img_0219img_0222

Today had my first visit to Trader Joe’s which is a health food grocery store. In Canada we do not have a Trader Joe’s so I figured while I was down in the US for some camping I would pop-in to see what all the hype was about.

The whole store is lined with healthy food and I could easily spend hours looking at each and every item and the calorie count.

As there is limited things we can bring back over the border I picked up a few things I wanted to have.

Low calorie shredded cheese is one that we do not have here in our local supermarket.

Better’n Peanut Butter is not something I can find in any of our local stores. I say some eating this on a video and the said it is great.

I was smelling this soap all the way home. I am going to smell yummy these next few weeks.

I found Trader Joe’s to be a great store to go to and now wish there was one near me so I can visit weekly as part of my grocery shopping.

What do you like to get at Trader Joe’s?

EVERYTHING. I don’t really think of Trader Joes as a health food store because they have sooooooooo much junk food too, but the best thing is that it’s all CHEAP. Healthy, not healthy, it’s ALL really inexpensive. Also their wine and beer selections are incredible AND cheap. I could never name just one favorite thing from Trader Joes. All their sauces, all their frozen food selections, and for a treat we love their chocolate covered orange slices. Trader Joes should be all over the world – I’m glad you got to visit one at least.

Glad you got to visit! This is my favourite store!!! I so wish we had one up here. I buy all kinds of things at Trader Joes… the cheeses are great and inexpensive, they have lots of gluten-free products to choose from, and their home products are eco & pet friendly. The green tea soap is fab and lasts a really long time. The organic canned beans and veggies are only a few cents more than the non-organic. It’s a great place, you’ll probably be back sooner than you think!

Trader Joe’s is amazing. Their canned beef chili paired with their jalapeno cheese bread is awesome when you’re not in the mood to really cook anything too involved. Their cereals are super yummy and their frozen foods (like the teriyaki or orange mandarin chicken and their frozen pizzas) are all really good. Plus their produce is really fresh. Only farmer’s markets and co-ops can compete. And all their desserts and cookies….but I suppose those might be off-limits. :)

There’s only 2 complaints I have with Trader Joe’s. 1) Their fresh breads and baked goods are awesome, but somehow with the packaging they get moldy really quickly. Married, with no kids, we just can’t get through it quickly enough before it turns. 2) I’ve noticed some of their packaging info is not accurate in terms of the number of servings per bag to serving size ratio. As one who scrupulously counts portion sizes and calorie counts, it is sometimes difficult to tell if the serving size is the true serving size, or if I’m getting jipped in the number of servings per package. But other than that TJ’s is the best!
