Vibram Five Fingers

While we were running on Sunday we came across to woman who were running ahead of us wearing these very strange looking shoes. They were very bright and from the back looked like they were wearing flippers. As we passed them I noticed that each of the toes was separated and that this is a shoe for those that want to do barefoot running w/o the damage to their feet.

I did some quick looking and found out these shoes are called Vibram Five Fingers shoes. They come in a variety of styles. Living in Canada it appears here that they are only for sale at Co-op Mountain Equpiment and after searching their site it became clear they are sold out.

If and when they restock I would like to try a pair of these shoes. If you want a pair for now it looks like the best way is with Amazon.

What is your opinion on barefoot running? Have you tried the Vibram Five Fingers?

My advice is to get some immediately :) . There’s life before foot freedom and life after … and after is so much better. If you need help, I recommend a guide for 5 fingers I created. Covers the basics and also has a lot of citations of user stories (and photos) of what folks are doing in them in various models.
